At many points in my life, I understood that performance can be a tool to change reality. Art activism is certainly an essential part of this global vision. Art therapy and awareness constitute its complementary part because they help people to fully participate with their bodymind in the process of change. I am an artist/scholar who values our inner changes through performance and theatre. Performance and theatre are two radical instruments in our hands. To me, performance can benefit from speed. Theatre demands the art of waiting. This is why in performance, I use short, intensive schedules to achieve immediate results; in theatre, I value the director/actor dialogue through a long rehearsal process. When experimenting with performance, I aim to promote self-expression and trigger conversations and sense of belonging through common work. In experimental theatre, I pursue a deeper research on the humane, which stands in conversation with a long history of canons, styles, and techniques, and requires respect, dedication, and trust in the process.

An Italian citizen based in California since 2009, I received my Ph.D. in Theater and Performance Studies from Stanford University and earned a bachelor and a master in theatre history from Ca' Foscari University, Venice. I also trained as an actor, dancer, choreographer, director, and musician. In my performance work, I pursue experimentation through intermediality and improvisation, across theatre, dance, performance art, and literature. From 2001 to 2009, I worked as an actor for Italian theatre groups ItinerisTeatro and Compagnia Teatro d'Arte Spresiano.
